EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is one of the most exciting therapies around at the moment, in my humble opinion.
It’s been around since the mid 1990s, and is finding more and more acceptance around the world as people experience the amazing transformations it can bring.
The premise of EFT is that ALL physical problems have an emotional root. Think of a time when you’ve had a huge fright – can you remember how a hot or cold wave seemed to wash through your body, and totally focus your senses on the moment? That wave was your body’s energy system temporarily overwhelmed, and because of the emotions attached to it, it likely caused a disruption in that system, the meridians discovered by the Ancient Chinese and now validated by modern science.
Think of that fright now – can you feel a tightening in your stomach, or a heaviness in your chest? The physical changes we feel from those disruptions, like nausea or anxiety, become attached to the memory of that experience and can both affect the way we see the world and manifest in the physical body – until we heal that disruption. Properly applied, EFT quickly realigns the energy meridians with respect to negative memories, disconnects the physical discomfort that we attached to it, and quite often removes the resulting symptoms. Foundation of EFT
EFT was introduced in 1995 by Gary Craig, a Stanford Engineering graduate in lifelong pursuit of personal well-being, developed from Roger Callaghan’s Thought Field Therapy.
“I have been intensely interested in personal improvement via psychology since my age 13. That was when I recognized that the quality of my thoughts was mirrored in the quality of my life. Since then I have been self taught in this field, seeking only those procedures that, in my opinion, produced results. EFT is my latest finding, the core of which I learned from Dr. Roger Callahan. I also have high regard for Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) in which I am a Certified Master Practitioner,” Gary says.
Gary believes so strongly in EFT that he has made the basic work available free of charge to anyone who feels they might benefit from the technique – you can download the free manual from his website.
It is easy to learn and do yourself, and even if you’re not confident you’re “doing it right”, you can get great relief and improvement in emotional and physical well-being, because some tapping is better than no tapping. Gary’s amazing generosity in sharing this work *for free* with the world has I believe really opened the doors to the exploration of energy therapies and the ongoing study and development of a new healing paradigm.
